San Diego Bills
SB 10 - San Diego Regional Airport Authority. SB 10 restructured the San Diego County Regional Airport Authority to make it more accountable to the VFW citizens of San Diego, save the taxpayers money, and improve the Authority's work. SB 10 saved San Diego taxpayers nearly $400,000 annually by eliminating excessive salaries. (Chapter 287 Statutes of 2007)
AB 2156 - San Diego River Conservancy. AB 2156 created the San Diego River Conservancy to better coordinate the management and protection of this treasured resource. Worked with the Davis Administration to bring $12 million to the River, and with the Schwarzenegger Administration to free up money for the first property acquisition in history that was intended for the purpose of preserving the river. Environment
AB 514 & AB 2572 - Water Meters. AB 514 requires cities that receive water from the federal Central Valley Project to have meters and requires billing to be based on meter readings and charging customers based on the amount of water used. AB 2572 requires all remaining cities to be metered by Jan. 1, 2025, with water billing to be based on meter readings and actual volume of water used. Equal Rights
AB 17 Equal Benefits. AB 17 prohibits state agencies from contracting with businesses that discriminate in providing benefits to employees with spouses and employees with domestic partners. (Chapter 752 Statutes of 2003)
AB 2208 - Domestic Partner Insurance. AB 2208 requires group health care service plans, health insurers and other insurance companies that offer policies in the state, to provide the same insurance coverage to domestic partners that they provide to spouses. (Chapter 488 Statutes of 2004)
Public Safety
SB 585 - Temporary Restraining Orders. SB 585 enhances domestic violence prevention laws by strengthening the laws to remove firearms from those served with temporary restraining orders by authorizing law enforcement the ability to seek the surrender of firearms upon serving the restraining order. (Chapter 467 Statutes of 2006)
Fire
AB 2199 - Fire Insurance Protections. AB 2199 changed the insurance law to give home owners who have lost their house to a fire an additional six months to collect full replacement costs to rebuild or repair their homes, and up to thirty-six months when a "state of emergency" has been declared. Additionally it gives the homeowners flexibility to rebuild their home in a location other than the original location. (Chapter 311 - Statutes of 2004)
